| Whistles come in many shapes and materials like aluminium, steel, RFS, cupper, plastic, buffelhorn, wood, etc.. Choosing the material is mainly user specific as is the shape and thickness of the whistle. A whistle of buffelhorn can never be as slim as an aluminium one would be. Some can more easely whistle on a thick whistle than others. Personal favor is beond the state of use. Often a change of whistle is made during the training period because of the fact that it might be wiser to use a higher pitch (or lower one for that matter). Widely used is the Montana Half Moon whistle. |

| Next to learning how to blow your whistle, it can take some time, it is a good thing to try and learn the correct commands. Commands must not only be loud and clear to the Handler but more important to the dog!
Always keep in mind that a dog hears almost 20 times better than a human, so never blow your whistle at full power next or close to the dog! |
